Lake Debo: A Beacon Through The Ages

A study of nearly 500 maps following the evolution of the representation of West Africa's Lake Debo. This paper and accompanying slides were presented in August, 2003 at the International Cartographic Association Symposium on the History of Cartography in Africa in Cape Town, South Africa (click here for programme). A poster based on the work was also on display at the International Conference on the History of Cartography (ICHC) in Cambridge, MA in June, 2003.
